Chelsea’s Thiago Silva has been praised by Brazilian news site Ge Globo for his performance in the World Cup yesterday.
The tournament favourites Brazil edged past Switzerland in yesterday’s second game of the group stages, joining France as only the second team to win both matches so far.
Casemiro’s late strike was the difference, in a game where Brazil’s attack looked limited without Neymar available.

Instead, the defence caught the eye for the majority watching.
Led by Silva, the South American side are yet to concede a goal, registering consecutive clean sheets.
Despite his age, the Chelsea man is looking undroppable, with Real Madrid’s Eder Militao being shifted to right-back to accommodate the national team icon.
Brazil wowed by Silva
Ge Globo were extremely impressed with his performance again, claiming he hardly put a foot wrong, particularly in the first half.
They said: “Second impeccable game in the World Cup. Right in the anticipations and in the direct combat, he even reversed sideways with Marquinhos to help Militão in the fight against the Swiss in the first half.
“Tried to find spaces in long balls on the back of the defence.”
Brazil already qualifying for the knockout stages of the completion does mean they have the opportunity to rest a number of their key players for the final group match against Cameroon.

Silva will surely be one of these, with him arguably the player most likely to be affected by the pile-up of games in the middle of what has already been a hectic and taxing season.
The Brazilian has been crucial for Graham Potter since he took over, and returning in the best condition possible is absolutely essential for Chelsea if they want to turn around their season after Christmas.
Despite the likelihood they will make new signings in January, no one will be replacing Silva just yet.
