AC Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek thinks he has improved so much since leaving Chelsea last summer.
AC Milan signed Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea in a £15m deal (The Athletic) and the 27-year-old is getting plenty of opportunities at the San Siro.
He recently spoke to the club’s official website, claiming that playing in Serie A has helped him to improve as a footballer.
Loftus-Cheek has made 15 appearances in the competition, managing to grab a couple of goals along the way.
Christian Pulisic also left Chelsea for Milan in the last transfer window, and one pundit thinks the American should have actually got out of Stamford Bridge a year earlier.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek improving at AC Milan
It is fair to say that Loftus-Cheek has no regrets over leaving Chelsea for Milan.
On his time in Serie A so far, the Englishman said: “It’s a very tough league, I’ve felt in the first six months here. The teams, they’re all tactically good. It’s so hard to break teams down, it’s like a chess game. You have to work so much more as a team in Italy, which has improved my game a lot and my learning.
“I’m very happy playing here in Italy. I hope to improve more and learn more about the game. The coach, the staff, the manager, they’re helping me improve a lot.”

Ruben Loftus-Cheek would have got game time at Chelsea this season
Loftus-Cheek was a bit of a fringe player at Chelsea, so it was not a shock when he left the Blues for a bigger role at Milan.
However, if the England international had stayed at Stamford Bridge, he probably would have got plenty of minutes this season.
Mauricio Pochettino‘s side have had a lot of injuries in the current campaign, including in midfield. Romeo Lavia, for example, has played just one game for Chelsea since arriving from Southampton last summer.
Loftus-Cheek wanted to go, though, and no one can say his decision to join Milan has not paid off.
