Football coach Ed Hodge has now taken to social media to share a concern he has with what he has seen from some Chelsea training sessions recently.

He posted on his Instagram story a list of worries he had from just a single screenshot from some of their gym work.

Injuries have hit Chelsea as hard as anyone this season, with Mauricio Pochettino hardly being able to pick the same team in recent weeks.

Before their last game against Newcastle, he lost both Ben Chilwell and Levi Colwill to new issues.

While the vice-captain has been seen back in training since then, the youngster was not included in the England squad for the upcoming friendlies, suggesting he is still a way away from returning to action.

Coach tears into Chelsea training technique

Supporters will have been keen to know why they have been hit so hard this season in particular.

Hodge may have just given them a clue to this, with him stating some of the technique being used in the gym is completely wrong.

He said: “Really concerned to see Chelsea have an inexperienced reformer teacher on site teaching pro players.

  1. You DON’T wear sneakers! Never!!
  2. Coxis (tailbone) should be planted in this manoeuvre and not lifted.
  3. Arms should be rested by your side… (And more wrong with this picture)

“If you are taught Reformer Plates incorrectly you are going to have injuries. I have said time and time again that you should only use highly qualified professionals. This is very worrying to see.”

While long-term injuries have affected the Blues this season, what has been really frustrating is losing players straight after they were deemed fit enough to return.

The likes of Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku and Carney Chukwuemeka have seen themselves return to the treatment table not long after coming back to action, only causing more frustration to a group of players who can make a serious impact on the first team when fit.
