Chelsea loanee Eddie Beach left an opposing striker punching the floor in frustration after a series of great saves for Chelmsford City in their 2-1 win over Weymouth.

The 19-year-old is in his first loan spell away from the Blues since joining from Southampton’s youth setup in 2022.

He has spent the majority of this season in action for the Chelsea U21 side, featuring in both the Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy.

He was handed an opportunity to impress Graham Potter as one of the first youngsters to be called up to train with the first team squad, as the current injury crisis first reared its head.

With Gabriel Slonina now back at Stamford Bridge following his loan back to the MLS, it looked as if Beach needed to make a temporary move away in order to get regular minutes.

He ended up at Chelmsford, and has already made his mark on the National League South side. The highlights of their league game against Weymouth show just how good he can be.

The goalkeeper position at Stamford Bridge is one that could be up for grabs in the upcoming seasons.

It is unlikely that either Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy will be the first choice option going forwards.

There have been links to making additions from the Premier League.

Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has been targeted, with Potter knowing him better than many following their time together on the South Coast.

More recently however, they have reportedly shown interest in signing Spaniard David Raya from Brentford.

With him continuing to reject new contracts from the fellow West London side and his current deal drawing to an end, he may be available for an attractive price to the bigger sides in England.
