Chelsea fans have not seen too much of Deivid Washington this season.
Deivid Washington arrived at Chelsea from Santos during the summer but has made just one appearance in the Premier League so far.
However, his recent exploits in training show that the Blues could have a really talented player on their hands. The club shared on their official X account yesterday a short video clip of the young forward scoring with a flick while his back was towards goal.
It is probably not the kind of trick you will be seeing in the Premier League too often, but if Washington could ever pull off something like that in an actual match, it would be insane.
Of course, the Brazilian has to get on the pitch first, which is unlikely to happen that much at Chelsea this season.
Should Chelsea loan out Deivid Washington?
That would be ideal. With Mauricio Pochettino currently having Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja at his disposal, we do not expect a less experienced centre-forward like Washington to get much game time at Stamford Bridge right now.
He will also fall further down the pecking order if Chelsea sign a new striker next month, with Brentford’s Ivan Toney still being linked with a move to the Blues.
Because of new rules, though, the club can only loan out a certain amount of players, which complicates things for Washington.
The former Santos man will probably have to stay at Chelsea until the end of the season, which is not the worst thing.
There, he gets to work with an excellent coach in Pochettino and train alongside some top-class players. At some point, however, you suspect that Washington will have to go out on loan to get game time, as he is nowhere close to being ready to lead Chelsea’s frontline.
