Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres has been linked to Chelsea and is the striker everyone is talking about right now.

Viktor Gyokeres has been in sensational form for Sporting this season, scoring 23 goals in all competitions.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Chelsea are one club on Gyokeres’ trail presently, which really comes as no surprise as the 26-year-old continues to score with every touch he takes.

That was practically the case in Sporting’s 4-1 win against Manchester City on Tuesday night.

Viktor Gyokeres joins Lionel Messi and Christopher Nkunku

Gyokeres scored a hat-trick in his side’s victory over City to join Lionel Messi and Christopher Nkunku on a very exclusive list.

Before his three goals, Messi and Nkunku were the only players ever to score a hat-trick against City in the Champions League.

Nkunku’s came before his move from RB Leipzig to Chelsea in 2023. While still at the German club, the forward managed to net three times in a 6-3 loss to the Citizens.

It was the kind of performance that probably made Chelsea interested in signing Nkunku.

No more Viktor Gyokeres doubts

Gyokeres first made a name for himself during the 2023/24 campaign, where the Swede was able to score 43 goals in 50 appearances.

However, that was his first real standout season, while most of his goals obviously came in the Portuguese league, which is not the strongest division in Europe.

The question was could Gyokeres maintain his form, which he has done. The Sweden international has now also scored a hat-trick against one of the best clubs in world football. If there were any doubts still left about Gyokeres, they are now gone.

Nicolas Jackson has not done a bad job for Chelsea this season. Jackson recently won Goal of the Month on Match of the Day. However, if the Blues do have the chance to sign Gyokeres next year, then they probably have to be all over it at this point.
