Leeds United gave Chelsea a good game in the fifth round of the FA Cup last night.

They took the lead early on thanks to Mateo Joseph, who managed to score two goals at Stamford Bridge. But in the end, Chelsea ran out 3-2 victors, with Conor Gallagher breaking Leeds supporters’ hearts with a last-minute winner.

For Leeds manager Daniel Farke, the Whites were the much better side in the second half. However, speaking to LUTV, the German acknowledged that the Blues were way more clinical and that is what won the home side the game.

Chelsea’s win has set up a tie with Leicester City at Stamford Bridge in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Mauricio Pochettino‘s men will be desperate to go all the way in the FA Cup after suffering heartbreak in the Carabao Cup last weekend.

Daniel Farke admits Chelsea were more clinical than Leeds

Chelsea’s clinical edge gave them the win over Leeds, according to Farke.

After his side’s defeat, the former Norwich City boss said: “In the second half we were all over them, had so much possession, more shots, more shots on target, more expected goals.

“They were a bit more clinical so for that we have to say congratulations, that’s down to individual quality.”

Chelsea need to continue being this clinical

There was some really good finishing on display last night, with Nicolas Jackson, Mykhailo Mudryk and Gallagher all taking their goals well.

If the Blues can continue being that cool and accurate with their shots in the box, then they could start to climb the table.

For the majority of the season so far, Chelsea have not had that cutting edge in attack, which is why they are currently sitting in 11th.

What last night showed, though, is that Pochettino does have individuals who can get in the right positions and then finish. He now needs that to happen on a more consistent basis.
