Kepa Arrizabalaga has shared what was said inside the Chelsea dressing room at half-time during the win against AC Milan earlier in the week.

Blues goalkeeper Kepa, 28, claims the Blues spoke during the interval about remaining calm and focused during quite a heated match at the San Siro on Tuesday night.

Chelsea ended up securing a vital 2-0 away win against Milan in the Champions League group stages. However, it was a fiery European encounter that finished up with nine yellow cards and one red card.

Fikayo Tomori’s red card for AC Milan during the first-half was the catalyst for a dramatic match, but Graham Potter’s side actually showed some brilliant maturity in the second period to stay professional.

Half-time against AC Milan

Kepa has given a small insight into the changing room talk midway through the game against Milan:

“Sometimes these types of games happen. It was a huge fight, we were focused and calm. We spoke about that in the changing room at half-time [on Tuesday night],” Kepa said.

The message given to the Blues players against Milan clearly worked.

It remained a dangerous game at the San Siro even against a Milan side with 10 men because they just needed one moment to get back into the contest.

Instead, visitors Chelsea kept their heads and really dictated the match out in Italy.

Incidentally, Kepa was reportedly the player on the pitch against Milan yelling the manager’s instructions to his teammates.

Potter magic

It’s easy to forget Potter had never coached on the Champions League stage a month ago, which is what made the win away to Milan even more impressive this week.

His team could have easily lost their cools or risen to the bait at the San Siro, but they kept their heads with a really professional job.

There was clearly a message to the players to see the job through. Potter deserves credit for withdrawing already booked Mason Mount at half-time, too.
