One of the signings which will have went under the radar at Chelsea this summer could well end up being one of their more shroud additions.

Renato Veiga has already made a number of appearances for his new club since the summer switch, and he seems to have displaced one of their more experienced players in the squad.

Ben Chilwell is out of Chelsea’s plans for the foreseeable future, with Enzo Maresca seemingly not seeing a future with the previous vice-captain in the side.

Marc Cucurella is very much seen as the number one option in the left-back role at the moment, with him starting the opening two Premier League games of the season.

This is off the back of a really strong six months for both club and country, with his Spain side winning the European Championships.

Renato Veiga praises Marc Cucurella

Cucurella was praised as ‘outstanding’ during this spell, and has really begun to turn things around at Stamford Bridge.

Veiga has praised Cucurella for his ability and what he is like around the group, and says the competition with him for a place in the side is helping both of them become better.

He said on the official Chelsea website: “What a player, what a guy! I love competing, he does as well. That’s how you build a healthy relationship and group – with a lot of internal competition.”

It has been a part of the transfer plan this summer to have at least two quality players available in each position.

Chelsea could keep Trevoh Chalobah

Chelsea are reportedly concerned about the centre-back position, with there being two days left in the transfer window to address this.

There was a hope for the club that Trevoh Chalobah would be sold by now, allowing them to spend money on a new defender.

However, reports now state that Chalobah could stay at Chelsea, with some at the club impressed with how he has handles what is a very delicate situation.
