Many Atletico Madrid fans have come to the same conclusion when reacting to speculation that their youngster Samu Omorodion could end up joining Chelsea this summer.

Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion, who’s aged just 20, is tipped with a potential transfer to Stamford Bridge.

It’s been reported by journalist Ben Jacobs via X in the last 24 hours that Atletico will sanction Omorodion’s move to Chelsea if they sign Julian Alvarez. Apparently, the £34m-rated young striker is open to joining the Blues and personal terms won’t be an issue.

BBC Sport has since reported on Tuesday that Atletico have agreed an £81.5m deal to sign Manchester City forward Alvarez.

Atletico Madrid fans react to Samu Omorodion rumours

Many Atletico supporters on social media are suggesting that they don’t want to lose Omorodion in this transfer window.

The Spanish youngster only joined them in the summer of 2023, but he spent last season out on loan at La Liga rivals Alaves. Incidentally, he scored eight goals for them across all competitions.

There’s now speculation that the 20-year-old could be on the move again just 12 months later, which has not gone down well with the Madrid fanbase.

Here are some Atletico fans on X discussing Omorodion:

One fan said: “Love this guy (heartbroken emoji).”

Another wrote: “Ridiculous, if £40m is all we need to secure Alvarez then just lower the price of Felix and maybe get rid of Correa or Lemar, or both.”

One user posted: “Alvarez is a baller but letting go Samu hurts. He was destined to shine at our club.”

Another claimed: “And the 2029 Balon d’Or goes to… Samu Omorodion!”

A reason for Chelsea fans to be optimistic

Chelsea supporters aren’t too happy with the Omorodion rumours, but the reaction from the Atletico fanbase is at least a reason to be optimistic.

Omorodion is still at the very infancy of his career. In fact, he’s only played 35 senior matches in his club career to date. It’s very interesting that Atletico supporters don’t want the young prospect leaving their books, though.

Chelsea’s recent transfer policy means everyone is used to welcoming unproven youngsters by now. The key to this approach is patience, which is a huge shift from what we used to see under the previous ownership.
