Last year, Chelsea signed Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo from Benfica and Brighton & Hove Albion respectively.
Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are now the two most expensive signings in Chelsea‘s history.
However, at least as a partnership, the two midfielders have not done anything spectacular this season.
They have often been criticised, with former West Ham United player Nigel Reo-Coker claiming that he cannot see a partnership between the two.
Right now, Fernandez is currently on the sidelines, leaving Caicedo to play alongside Conor Gallagher, and the 22-year-old has performed pretty well next to him. In Chelsea’s last home game, Caicedo recorded an assist and made three tackles. Only Marc Cucurella made more, according to WhoScored.

Chelsea had high hopes for Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo partnership
Chelsea were expecting a lot from Fernandez and Caicedo after putting them together.
According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea officials thought the Fernandez-Caicedo partnership could bring about an era of dominance.
It has been one season so far, though, so they very well could in the future.
As of now, however, it probably has not been the partnership the club were expecting.
Once Fernandez is fully fit and playing injury-free, maybe things will eventually start to click on a more consistent basis.
Why have Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo not excelled together?
There are many possible reasons. For example, it could just be down to the fact that they have not been at the club for too long and are still in the process of developing their partnership.
As already mentioned, Fernandez was playing through injury as well before undergoing surgery on a groin issue.
Then there is the pressure of being a £100m midfielder, something that they have both had to deal with.
It could be any of the above reasons or perhaps all of them for why Fernandez and Caicedo are not the dream midfield partnership yet. There is time for that to change, though.
