Chelsea’s form in the last couple of months has given everyone a reminder of where this young squad is actually at right now.
Enzo Maresca made a rapid start as the Chelsea manager during his debut season, which led to pundits getting carried away at the halfway stage.
The reality is that the Blues have regressed so far this calendar year. They’re now out of both domestic cup competitions, plus they sit fifth in the Premier League table right now.

Chelsea’s players recently held a meeting between themselves to openly discuss their poor form. Hopefully, it can be a turning point in the season to get them back on track to help them achieve their goals in the Premier League and the Conference League.

Chelsea think injuries are the biggest contributor to their recent form
According to The Athletic, Chelsea internally regard the injury problems as the ‘most significant contributor factor’ to their recent struggle for results.
The report adds that there are other Blues stars still playing with ‘minor physical issues’, which is not uncommon for this part of the season.
The current injury list at Stamford Bridge does include some significant first-team stars.
- Trevoh Chalobah
- Romeo Lavia
- Nicolas Jackson
- Noni Madueke
- Benoit Badiashile
- Marc Guiu
As you can see above, some key individuals are unavailable right now. Wesley Fofana only just returned to the bench in this week’s win over Southampton as well.
Chelsea’s injured players may return soon because Maresca claimed he expects most of them to return after March’s international break.

Nicolas Jackson stock has risen during absence
When it comes, Nicolas Jackson’s return to fitness for Chelsea will give everybody a major lift.
In the four games that Jackson has missed with a hamstring injury so far, the Blues have lost three of them. We don’t think it’s a coincidence that the team looks a lot less threatening without him in the XI.
The 23-year-old centre-forward was actually on a goal drought prior to picking up an injury problem versus West Ham, but this time on the sidelines has made everyone see his importance.

Paul Merson claims Chelsea really miss Jackson, especially because he’s got a great connection on the pitch with teammate Cole Palmer. The Englishman must be patiently waiting for the striker’s return because his movement is top class.
