Mauricio Pochettino was forced to get a bit creative when it came to picking his squad for the big Chelsea game last night.

The Blues picked up a very impressive 2-0 win against arch-rivals Tottenham at Stamford Bridge, as they look to keep their hopes alive of qualifying for Europe next season.

Pochettino will be particularly impressed with how his side dealt with the vast injury problems they have right now, missing as many as 14 first team players for yesterday’s London derby.

For this reason, the outfield players on the bench were made up of youth prospects, with one of those being 17-year-old academy star Josh Acheampong.

The right-back was brought on with 12 minutes to go after an injury to Alfie Gilchrist, who put in a brilliant performance himself in just his second start for the club.

With the score being 2-0 when the Blues brought him on, it was all about defending and closing out the game to secure a crucial three points.

Josh Acheampong makes most blocks in Chelsea vs Tottenham

He got himself in the way of a number of shots from the away side late on, with a statistic from Mozo Football stating that he made four successful blocks, the most of any player on the pitch for either team across the 90 minutes.

Reece James and Malo Gusto still injured

Given the fact that it seems unlikely club captain Reece James returns before the end of the season, and there is currently no date set for when Malo Gusto comes back, Acheampong could be about to see himself included in the squad for the rest of the campaign.

In his cameo last night, he proved the Premier League is certainly not a level too high for him, and if he is needed again the Blues should not feel like they are weakening their squad too much with the talented youngster.
