What Chelsea’s owners plan to do for Thomas Tuchel as England manager despite sacking him

Thomas Tuchel was a Chelsea hero but left the club on a sour note back in 2022.

Despite winning the Champions League in 2021 and coming third in the Premier League the year after, Chelsea sacked Thomas Tuchel after an underwhelming start to the 2022/23 season.

Since then, the German has managed Bayern Munich, while he was recently named as the new England boss, starting his new job in January.

It means he will have to come back to Stamford Bridge to take a look at Chelsea’s England internationals. Darren Bent has already spoken about Reece James and the possibility of his former club manager calling him up for the Three Lions.

Thomas Tuchel welcome back at Chelsea

From the Chelsea side of things, there does not look like there is any ill feeling.

According to The Telegraph, despite having American owners, Chelsea plan to do all they can to help Tuchel in his bid to win the 2026 World Cup with England.

Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali will get to watch the United States compete at the World Cup as one of the host nations, but it looks like they want to see Chelsea’s England internationals go all the way in the competition.

Current Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has wished Tuchel all the best as he prepares for his next adventure.

Which Chelsea players could Thomas Tuchel take to the World Cup?

At present, Chelsea have a lot of England internationals. James, Cole Palmer, Levi Colwill, Noni Madueke, Jadon Sancho and Ben Chilwell have all represented the Three Lions before.

Of course, by the time the World Cup arrives, Chilwell is unlikely to be at Chelsea. Chilwell has been linked with a return to Leicester City as he continues to be overlooked by Maresca.

Tosin Adarabioyo and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are also eligible to play for England, while Raheem Sterling and Trevoh Chalobah, who are currently out on loan, are options as well.

While Sterling is capped, like Adarabioyo and Dewsbury-Hall, Chalobah has not played for England at senior level either.
