What Conor Gallagher has done for Chelsea this season that no other player in the PL has managed

Conor Gallagher has been a revelation for Chelsea this season under Mauricio Pochettino.

The England international is always going to go under the radar in a midfield with Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, however he has at times been the star performer of the trio.

Gallagher appears to have settled into a role just in front of the two most expensive players in that position, and this has brought great results for Chelsea.

Now, a statistic from Squawka has revealed that he is actually the player in the Premier League who has won possession for his side the most times in the final third.

His workrate has always been a strength of his, and Pochettino is the perfect manager to get the most out of him.

He has started every game so far this season, and has even donned the captain’s armband for a few games in the absence of either Reece James or Ben Chilwell.

All of this has come just weeks after the club seemed to do everything they could to get rid of him for a large fee over the summer.

Even on deadline day, there were reports linking him with a move away if someone paid the money they were hoping for.

While there has been no real confirmation over what is to come from now, it would surely be foolish for the Blues to look to move Gallagher on anytime soon.

Even if he is no longer a starter when everyone returns from injury, his presence as a member of the squad will be invaluable in the long run.
