Chelsea’s Cole Palmer has already made his mark during his first week with England’s senior squad.

Cole Palmer, 21, received his maiden senior call-up to England’s squad during this international break.

His excellent form at Chelsea so far this season has seen him force his way into Gareth Southgate’s plans. The injury absences of James Maddison and Jude Bellingham certainly helped open the door, too.

Blues fans will hope that their attacking midfielder gets to make his England debut in Friday night’s qualifying match versus Malta.

Immediate impact

According to Miguel Delaney’s newsletter, Palmer has already impressed in England training in the last few days.

It is understood that there’s a belief that the 21-year-old could force his way into plans for next summer’s Euro 2024 tournament, largely because he does bring something different to the group.

Of course, a spot on the plane for Germany will also depend on his club form for the rest of the campaign and his ability to convince Southgate.

The noise is very encouraging this week, though.

If you consider the way he’s settled into his new environment at Chelsea, perhaps it’s no surprise that the fearless youngster has done it again.

Cole Palmer hype is real

Some people may want to refrain from all the big praise that’s being focused on Palmer, but we’re confident that the youngster can handle extra pressure. In fact, he seems to thrive off exactly that.

Speaking via YouTube earlier this month, Fabrizio Romano reported that Chelsea think they’ve got a special player with Palmer.

His form since his summer arrival from Manchester City has been impressive, scoring four goals and making four assists across all competitions.

On top of valuable goal contributions, the attacking midfielder looks like a kid on a schoolground when he’s playing on the pitch. That’s because he plays with such freedom and a refreshing attitude.

It’s easy to see why he’s quickly become a big hit with the club’s fanbase. Let’s see if he can win over the England supporters when he gets his first opportunity to represent hiss country at senior level.
