Sam Allardyce has shared he’s worried about the England career of Chelsea attacker Raheem Sterling.

Raheem Sterling, who’s still in his prime at the age of 28, has been one of the best players for England’s national team across the past decade. The quick forward has 20 goals in 82 caps for the Three Lions.

However, he’s now been overlooked by England boss Gareth Southgate for back-to-back squads.

Sterling’s latest omission from the England camp this month shocked many after a great start to the season for Chelsea. David Seaman called the decision “strange” (Seaman Says podcast).

Sam Allardyce, who had the briefest of stints as England boss earlier in his managerial career, raised his concern about Sterling’s international future.

“What happens to Sterling and [Mason] Mount now? They are long past in the history books now unfortunately, aren’t they!? This is how quick the talent in England is coming through now,” Allardyce told talkSPORT.

If Sterling’s form continues like this throughout the season, we find it very hard to imagine him not earning an England recall in time for next summer’s European Championship. The competition for places in England’s forward positions is steep, though.

The Chelsea wide man has proven his quality in international tournaments before. His international CV speaks for itself, too.

Sterling can only keep playing well and scoring goals for Chelsea to make an even stronger case for himself.

The £50million winger (Daily Mail) is an experienced head in a very young squad at Stamford Bridge, so the platform is set for him to be a success this year.
