Referee Anthony Taylor stole the show in Chelsea’s 1-0 win against Bournemouth over the weekend.

Despite Christopher Nkunku scoring a late winner and Jadon Sancho making a huge impact on his debut, it was Anthony Taylor who was the talking point after the game.

The 45-year-old dished out an astonishing 14 yellow cards on the night, which was a Premier League record.

Former referee Dermot Gallagher was surprised Taylor didn’t show a red, given the number of players who had been booked.

What Anthony Taylor will be doing in the Premier League this weekend

Taylor will be working on Saturday and Sunday but only as a fourth official.

The Premier League have just announced who will be refereeing which game this weekend, and Taylor has not been selected for any.

Instead, he will be the fourth official for the Southampton v Ipswich Town and Brighton & Hove Albion v Nottingham Forest games.

The man taking charge of Saturday’s London derby between West Ham United and Chelsea will be Sam Barrott.

Enzo Maresca‘s men are looking for a third consecutive away win in the Premier League after beating Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers on the road.

Chelsea fans can forget about Anthony Taylor

Taylor has become quite an unpopular figure among Chelsea supporters to say the least, but they really do not need to feel too disgruntled about his officiating over the weekend.

In the end, Chelsea won thanks to some good work from Nkunku and Sancho, and that is all they should really care about.

On Nkunku and Sancho, it will be interesting to see if both men start at the London Stadium. They won the Bournemouth game for Chelsea, alongside goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

Sanchez made a good penalty save in the first half and stopped several other shots on the night. Alan Shearer named Sanchez in his Team of the Week after his heroics at the Vitality Stadium. Without him, Chelsea would have probably lost the game.
