Fulham boss Marco Silva is one manager in contention to succeed Liam Rosenior at Chelsea.

Sam Allardyce has a message for Silva, urging the 48-year-old to remain at Fulham if Chelsea refuse to change their structure.

However, it looks like Silva is more than open to replacing Rosenior, who was dismissed from Stamford Bridge last month.

Some figures at Chelsea also appear to be sold on the idea of Silva becoming the club’s next manager.

Journalist Sebastien Vidal has claimed on X that some of Silva’s entourage are currently working with members on Chelsea’s board to make the Portuguese Rosenior’s successor.

Silva and Fulham are having another strong campaign in the Premier League. They are actually level on points with Chelsea and are in the top half of the table.

They beat their west London rivals 2-1 at the start of the year, with Marc Cucurella picking up a red card that night.

If Silva does take over Chelsea, he may not have the Spaniard to call upon next season. It is believed that Cucurella would consider leaving Chelsea if he receives a serious offer this summer.

Marco Silva can do similar job to Mauricio Pochettino

In the short term, Silva could be a good appointment for Chelsea. After a very turbulent season, the Blues need someone who can steady the ship and get the team performing again.

Mauricio Pochettino did something similar when he took over in 2023 before Enzo Maresca replaced him and elevated Chelsea to another level.

Silva is an experienced coach who knows the Premier League inside out now. He could do the same kind of job that Pochettino did before a more elite coach comes in and gets Chelsea back to where they want to be.

Of course, Silva may not want to accept the kind of short-term deal Pochettino was willing to sign. But if he is, Chelsea could do much worse than having him at the Bridge for a year or two.
