Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino did not seem too happy with his side’s performance in their 2-2 draw with Burnley yesterday.

It is understandable because they dropped points and made it a difficult game when it never had to be.

Chelsea took the lead in the first half and Burnley defender Lorenz Assignon was sent off.

Vincent Kompany’s men would then go on to equalise, with Josh Cullen’s fantastic strike cancelling out Cole Palmer‘s spot-kick, but the Blues were able to go back in front again after the England international grabbed his second goal of the game.

Burnley equalised once more, which would have frustrated Mauricio Pochettino, but the Argentine looked to be well annoyed long before that and showed it on the touchline.

There was a lot to be frustrated about in the first half. Conor Gallagher, for example, could have played Palmer in during one moment in the match but took the shot instead, which left former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy far from impressed.

Pochettino was also clearly not pleased with what he was seeing from his side.

According to Evening Standard journalist Nizaar Kinsella, at one point, the 52-year-old was yelling furiously at his team from the technical area.

After failing to beat a 10-man Burnley side after taking the lead twice, you suspect that Pochettino also did the same thing in the dressing room at full-time.

What Pochettino said in the changing room will probably stay there, but the former Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur manager made it clear to the media that he was disappointed with his players.

“After today, we didn’t show the capacity, the energy, the anger. Not the minimum to compete in the Premier League,” he told football.london and other outlets.

“In the defensive phase we concede too much. That is why I am so upset and disappointed.”

Following the draw with the Clarets, Chelsea remain 11th in the Premier League table.

Champions League qualification is gone and if they cannot put a run of wins together, any hopes they have of entering the Europa League through their domestic league position will also disappear.
