Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk managed to get his name on the scoresheet in his side’s 3-2 win against Leeds United in the FA Cup last night.
Mykhailo Mudryk‘s goal was set up by Raheem Sterling, and it is fair to say that the 23-year-old was extremely grateful for his team-mate’s assist.
During his celebration, Mudryk gave Sterling a little kiss on the cheek, something Evening Standard journalist Nizaar Kinsella managed to spot.
It was the Ukrainian’s fifth goal of the season, with his last strike coming back in December against Crystal Palace.
Nicolas Jackson and Conor Gallagher were also on the scoresheet in a game Chelsea really had to win. Mauricio Pochettino‘s side went into their fifth round FA Cup tie on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.

Mykhailo Mudryk’s new attacking role
Pochettino played Mudryk as an attacking midfielder and his decision to do so paid off.
The Ukraine international scored and was getting into some really dangerous positions on the pitch. Is this something Pochettino could do again in the future?
Perhaps, but with his pace and dribbling, Mudryk is always going to be a player who is best suited out wide.
Chelsea have Cole Palmer as well. While the 21-year-old has also been playing out wide this season, he is a No.10 and has the creativity to start in that role.
Palmer has provided nine assists in all competitions for the Blues in the current campaign while scoring 12 goals.
Wherever he plays next, hopefully Mudryk can really kick on now. If not, it looks like the former Shakhtar Donetsk man could be loaned out in the summer.
According to journalist Simon Phillips, Chelsea have already discussed allowing Mudryk to join another club temporarily for the 2024/25 season. It is up to him to prove that he is good enough to remain in Pochettino’s squad.
