Cole Palmer has been Chelsea’s best player this season, leading the way in many stats.
For example, Cole Palmer is Chelsea‘s top scorer in the Premier League with seven goals, while he also has the most assists in his team with five.
“Some of his passes are obscene,” Arsenal legend Martin Keown said when discussing Palmer earlier this week.
For those interested in stats, there is one area where Noni Madueke has outdone Chelsea’s star man, though.

Noni Madueke makes top 10
When it comes to touches in the opposition box this Premier League season, Madueke has recorded 53.
It has put the winger in the top 10 players for that stat, with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah coming in at No.1 with 89.
With 53, Madueke has touched the ball more times in the opposition box than Palmer, who does not even make the top 10.
The above shows how direct Madueke can be. He is an attacker who is always trying to get into the box and make something happen. Madueke is now an “automatic pick” at Chelsea, according to Alan Smith.
Cole Palmer a threat from outside the box
What the above also shows is that Palmer does not have to go into the opposition box to cause problems.
The 22-year-old is capable of scoring goals and creating them from deeper positions. For example, Palmer scored a fantastic free-kick against Brighton & Hove Albion and an exquisite lobbed effort away at Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this season.
Chelsea’s attack thus has a nice balance, with players able to hurt the opposition from practically anywhere on the pitch.
Pat Nevin has described Palmer as “special” and thinking about some of the goals that he has scored in a blue shirt, you can only agree.
All in all, in Palmer and Madueke, Enzo Maresca has two very dangerous players who are bringing different things to the table. They are two men he will be looking to when Chelsea take on Manchester United this Sunday.
