One Chelsea player has been waiting patiently when it comes to finding out what is in the plans for him in West London.

Christopher Nkunku currently sits on just two Premier League starts this season, scoring as many goals in the competition.

Even with Nicolas Jackson struggling to find the net, the manager has stuck by him, and it couldn’t have been clearer how Nkunku didn’t fit what Enzo Maresca is trying to do in West London.

One competition this season where the France International has found a lot of joy is the Conference League. Only teammate Marc Guiu has more goals than him in that tournament.

Nkunku didn’t join to star in the Conference League though, and it has become clear that he is open to the idea of a move away in the January transfer window.

According to Simon Johnson though, people close to Nkunku aren’t confident that a move will be confirmed in the final few days of January.

He said: “Nkunku’s body language is that he wants to leave, but the noise coming out of his camp is that they are not sure he will get a move this window. Chelsea are asking for £65m-£75m, which is huge.”

It feels like the Frenchman is behind both Cole Palmer and Joao Felix in the pecking order for minutes in the Number 10 role too, and a move away looks the best for all parties right now.

Which clubs could sign Christopher Nkunku?

The club most strongly linked with signing Nkunku this summer have so far been Bayern Munich. Nkunku has even agreed personal terms with Vincent Kompany’s side.

However, a lot of the talk surrounding that move has depended on what happens with Mathys Tel.

After he reportedly decided he wants to leave the Bundesliga side if there was an opportunity this month, discussion regarding Nkunku’s potential return to Germany started again.

However, it has emerged that Tel is not keen on a move to Chelsea. If he leaves this month he wants to be guaranteed first team minutes.

Manchester United have also been mentioned as a potential landing spot for Nkunku, with him very likely to be a starter under Ruben Amorim.

Again though, that move may depend on what occurs with Alejandro Garnacho, a player Chelsea have been linked to and could make a move for in the final days of the January transfer window.
