Chelsea’s players are used to plenty of turmoil at the club, so perhaps a change of management in the summer didn’t surprise everyone.

The Blues waved goodbye to Mauricio Pochettino after just a year in the manager’s dugout. Interestingly, Enzo Maresca stepped in as the replacement and into his first job as a Premier League boss.

The Chelsea squad has been adapting to life under new head coach Maresca, who’s had a mixed start to life at Stamford Bridge as he tries to implement his possession-based football. They’ve had two wins, one draw and two defeats across all competitions so far.

Enzo Fernandez is already proving his importance to Maresca, while the likes of Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke are thriving as well.

Chelsea players impressed by Enzo Maresca

ESPN sources claim that Chelsea’s squad has actually been really impressed by Maresca in the opening few months of his reign. In particular, the quality of the Italian’s training sessions has got a thumbs up from the players.

Maresca certainly made a giant impact in one year at Leicester City last season, turning them from a counter-attacking team into a possession-based one. It eventually led them to winning the Championship title and promotion, too.

Now, the 44-year-old’s job is to implement his philosophy with an even better squad of players, where the pressure has increased tenfold.

It looks exciting even with rocky start

It’s been a bit up and down in the opening weeks of the season, but there’s plenty to be optimistic about at Chelsea. The main focus should be that Maresca’s style is slowly bleeding into the group and there’s been glimpses of high quality football.

In the opening five matches across all competitions, the Blues have scored 10 goals. Unfortunately, that’s been met with conceding seven times.

We would expect Chelsea to tighten up defensively a bit after the international break.
