Journalist Paul Brown has claimed that there are still some staff at Chelsea that are upset that the club sold Mason Mount over the summer.
He told GiveMeSport however that he is convinced that those on the board will be delighted with the deals they completed to sell the England international as well as Kai Havertz.
Last night was yet another tough one for Mount as he watched the majority of Manchester United’s 4-3 defeat to Copenhagen from the bench again.
He came on with the scores level, although Erik ten Hag seemed to bizarrely play him in a striker role that he has never played in his career.
Ultimately though, it was further proof that the move he made to prosper his career has seen him take a sideways step at best.
Nevertheless, Brown has claimed some at the club are still down about what went down regarding the 24-year-old at Stamford Bridge.
He said: “I still think there are people at Chelsea who were upset to see the club sell Mason Mount, a player from the academy, and I think that if he’d stayed he still would have been doing a good job in the team. I don’t think what’s happened at United is any real reflection on him or his ability.
“I think Chelsea was the right place for him and it’s a shame that he moved on. But I’m pretty sure Chelsea as a board and as a club will look at both [Kai Havertz and Mount] of those deals as a success right now.”
The Blues meanwhile have moved swiftly on from Mount, instead investing plenty of stocks in Cole Palmer, who signed on deadline day from Manchester City.
His goals and assists have already left many supporters forgetting about the once fan favourite that left just months ago.
