Last night was a good one for Chelsea’s attackers as the Blues went on to beat Newcastle United 3-2.

Nicolas Jackson, Cole Palmer and Mykhailo Mudryk all managed to get their name on the scoresheet at Stamford Bridge.

Mudryk came off the bench and put Chelsea 3-1 up on the night, and Mauricio Pochettino has told football.london and other outlets that he expects the winger to make an impact whenever he is subbed on.

It was Mudryk’s sixth goal of the season and his second against Newcastle, with the Ukrainian scoring against them in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals back in December.

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville was really impressed with how brave Mudryk was during the Premier League encounter.

Mauricio Pochettino expects Mykhailo Mudryk to make an impact

Pochettino has made it clear that Mudryk and Chelsea’s other substitutes need to be the difference when they are introduced to games.

On the 23-year-old and his goal, the Argentine said: “It was a very good goal and that is what we expect from the players who come from the bench, an impact.

“It’s about to compete with different players. It is more of a question to him than to me.”

Mudryk has the skillset to be a real game-changer for Chelsea in the second half of matches.

His pace can cause tired defenders problems, so there should be an expectation for him to deliver as a substitute.

Of course, Mudryk will want to be starting games, and if he can be as clinical as he has been in his last two matches against Newcastle going forward, then the Ukraine international has a great chance of winning a spot in Pochettino’s first XI.

It has not always been easy for Mudryk at Chelsea; he failed to score a single goal for them last season. However, things are getting better. The former Shakhtar Donetsk star is improving in attack, while it has been reported that Pochettino has helped him to build relationships in the Stamford Bridge dressing room.
