Jason Cundy has admitted it was difficult to read Roman Abramovich’s statement last night that shared his plans to sell Chelsea.
Blues owner Abramovich confirmed on Wednesday he’s going through the process to sell the club, amid widespread speculation about potential takeovers and government sanctions on him.
The 55-year-old Russian businessman posted his statement yesterday thanking the club’s fanbase, as well as saying any of the loans owed to him will not need to be paid back and net proceeds shall be donated to the victims of the war in Ukraine.
Cash-rich duo Hansjorg Wyss and Todd Boehly are reportedly interested in a joint-takeover of the London club.
Blues season ticket holder Loutfy Mansour is another name linked as a potential investor.
Chelsea fan and ex-player Cundy has explained he was heartbroken when he initially read Abramovich’s announcement this week.
“It felt inevitable. But at the same time, when I read the statement, it was incredibly hard to read,” Cundy told talkSPORT.
“It’s a tough read. He’s been a brilliant owner. The best owner in the world.
“He’s given every Chelsea fan… I never thought I’d see us win the Champions League. Never thought I’d see us win the Premier League.
“The trophies we’ve won over the last 20 years is phenomenal.”

Chelsea model has been so effective
Yes, there has been some harsh sackings of managers along the way.
However, Abramovich’s 19-year spell at Stamford Bridge has been rewarded with so much success on the pitch.
It’s been a trophy-laden part of the club’s history, so no pressure on whoever steps in as the new owner/owners.
The guarantee of success doesn’t come with the arrival of a cash-rich owner, so it’s so vital the club now falls into the right hands.
It was encouraging to hear Abramovich say he won’t rush the sale.
