While Cole Palmer is shining on a weekly basis in Chelsea colours, Mohamed Salah is the driving force in Liverpool’s remarkable form so far this season.
Chelsea sit third in the Premier League right now, picking up 22 points from 12 games. It represents a really positive start to life under Enzo Maresca’s management.
However, Arne Slot has had an even greater start since he took charge as Jurgen Klopp’s successor at Anfield in the summer.
Liverpool are currently the runaway leaders in the Premier League. In fact, they’ve already got an eight-point cushion over second-placed Manchester City.

Mohamed Salah, 32, continues to be outstanding year on year for Liverpool. So far this season, he’s scored 10 goals and created six assists in 12 league appearances.
There’s a lot of talk off the pitch about his future because his contract expires in the summer, but he’s certainly not allowing that to impact his game on a matchday.

Where Chelsea would be in the Premier League if you remove Mohamed Salah from Liverpool
OptaJoe has produced an interesting article on X showing what the Premier League table would look like this season if you remove Salah’s goals and assists.
Liverpool would drop down to 13th in the division table without their influential Egyptian attacker.
Meanwhile, Chelsea would move to the top of the Premier League. This is down to Salah scoring and assisting in Liverpool’s 2-1 home win over the Blues back in October.
Salah, who’s gone on and carved out a sensational career, was on Chelsea’s books between 2014-2016. The right-winger left after making just 19 first-team appearances for the Blues, though.
Now, the African star has 223 goals in 367 games for Liverpool across all competitions.
John Terry feels he let Salah down as Chelsea captain and that he could’ve done more for him when he was in west London, but nobody could’ve predicted the career he would go on to enjoy.
Where will Chelsea finish?
For Chelsea, the focus and aim should be on a top-four finish rather than dreaming of an unlikely title bid.
Steve Nicol thinks fourth spot is there for Chelsea to grab because he’s unconvinced by their Premier League rivals.
If the Blues can safely navigate their next few fixtures, they should be in a really healthy position by the end of the calendar year:

There were plenty of doubters when Maresca took charge in the Chelsea dugout, but he’s starting to prove a lot of people wrong.
