Yesterday saw one of Chelsea’s highest earning players decide that he actually wants a permanent exit from the club this summer.
Raheem Sterling looks as if he is in line for no gametime at Stamford Bridge this season, and has therefore asked to leave the club.
The England international was left out of the matchday squad completely for the opening game of the season against Manchester City.

This led to Sterling’s camp releasing a statement on the matter, something which has been questioned by many in the media since.
It is believed that Enzo Maresca told Sterling face to face he would have no part to play this season, and he is now reportedly considering his options.
Sterling wants to stay in the Premier League
Journalist Kaveh Solhekol has now stated that he is looking to remain in the Premier League if he does move on this summer.
He said: “Raheem Sterling wants to stay in the Premier League. Moving to Saudi Arabia is not an option for him at the moment as his family are settled in England and he wants to play for his country again.
“He knows where he stands and he knows he has no future at Chelsea. Open and honest dialogue is now required to find him a new club in a permanent deal.
“Unlike many other players, Sterling’s Chelsea contract does not have a clause which reduces his salary if the club are not in the Champions League. Sterling was the first major signing after Chelsea’s ownership group took over the club two years ago.”
If he is to remain in England, there is a big chance that he will have to drop his wage demands in order for a club to take a chance on him.
Chelsea sign Joao Felix
It was reported yesterday that Aston Villa were monitoring Sterling’s situation at Stamford Bridge, with them still looking to replace a couple of attackers this summer.
The frontline, particularly out wide for Chelsea, looks extremely promising right now, with their options recently being added to by the signing of Joao Felix.
He has joined fellow new boy Pedro Neto as a genuine option to start for the club, with it yet to be seen how Maresca decides to fit them all in.
