Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has promised to sign a ‘Galactico’ if he is re-elected to the role, following his interest in Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez.

Madrid have made Fernandez one of their key targets for the summer transfer window, with Perez the driving force of their interest.

Jose Mourinho is also keen to work with Fernandez, and there is a real fear that he could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge this summer.

Chelsea have high hopes for Josh Acheampong under Xabi Alonso…

Where does Acheampong fit in with Chelsea’s plans for 2026/27?

Enzo Fernandez is not Florentino Perez’s €150m Galactico

The midfielder wants his future sorted before the World Cup gets underway next week, something which could fit into Madrid president Perez’s plans.

He has promised to launch a €150m bid for a top-level player on Tuesday, in an attempt to convince Madrid fans to vote for him to become their president again.

However, Fabrizio Romano has reported that this is unlikely to be Fernandez he is talking about when it comes to this big-money move.

Instead, he claimed on his YouTube channel that he believes it is a player from recent Champions League winners PSG who they are targeting.

Chelsea signed Fernandez for just over £100m, and would likely find it too difficult to turn down a move at that price.

Andrea Cambiaso is the latest player to be linked.

Fernandez’s book value is around £75m, a fee thar would mean Chelsea aren’t making a loss after the three and a half years he has been at the club.

A big sale has been tipped to be needed at Stamford Bridge this summer with the club in financial woes, and the Argentine would certainly fit in that category.

Their hand may be forced as well by the player’s preference. Fernandez has made his desire to live in Madrid no secret.

This even saw him internally suspended during the 2025/26 season, a decision which only backfired on manager at the time, Liam Rosenior.
