Pundit Alan Shearer has now shared what he heard recently from Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino that left him really frustrated.
He told ‘The Rest is Football’ that he doesn’t know why the Argentine commented on what pundit Gary Neville said about his side following the EFL Cup final.
Neville took a lot of headlines off the back of their defeat to Liverpool at Wembley with his comments surrounding the Chelsea side who had lost in pretty dramatic circumstances.
He labelled the young Blues side as ‘Billion-Pound Bottlejobs’, something which a number of other pundits have already come out to say was too harsh.
Neville himself even admitted that he thought after the game he had gone too far, although a conversation with his producer at Sky reminded him of the entertainment factor that it may bring.
Pochettino himself was asked directly about it, with him keeping respectful in what will surely have been a heated moment.
Shearer frustrated at Pochettino
Shearer however believes he should simply of said that he doesn’t care what another person’s opinion on his side was.
He said: “I get frustrated because the managers answer that. I don’t know why Ten Hag this week, or Pochettino this week, he was asked about Gary Neville’s comment, Ten Hag was asked about Jamie Carragher. I don’t know why the manager doesn’t say I don’t give a —— what he says. Why you asking me a question about that? I don’t care what he says.
“They have their opinion and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Why should he have to answer a question about what they say? I would just say I haven’t listened to what they said, I don’t really care what they said, ask me another question.”
There is reportedly a lot of pressure on the boss at the moment after a string of poor performances and results that culminated at Wembley on Sunday.
The latest reports suggest that there is a lot of disagreement over whether he should be sacked or not, and this is likely to not help when doing due diligence on potential future candidates.
It has been reported that Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim is top of their list to replace the Argentine if they need to do so.
