Chelsea will currently feel very happy with the squad they have put together over the last few years, and the promise it has for the future.

Easily boasting the youngest squad in the Premier League, Enzo Maresca is already getting a tune out of his inexperienced side at the upper echelons of the top flight.

There has been a consistent aim to bring in some of the best young players in the game before their elite rivals too. This has seen the Blues secure the highly-sought after signing of Estevao Willian.

However, their exploits around the world have left doubt amongst their academy about a path to the first team, and saw the exit of highly-rated youngster Rio Ngumoha over the summer.

Chelsea worried about losing Josh Acheampong

Reports have stated that the same could be about to happen with Josh Acheampong. It has been claimed Acheampong has been frozen out by Chelsea until his contract situation is sorted out.

The Blues seem to think they have offered a good enough deal to be accepted, and are now working on a solution to the matter.

Felix Johnston has claimed that Chelsea are actually worried about losing the full-back, with top clubs interested in his signature.

He said: “I’m told interested clubs include Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund & Real Madrid. Issue around pathway. The player wants a pathway, but he has not been shown how he gets game time ahead of Gusto and James. Chelsea are ‘worried’. They don’t want to lose him.”

Acheampong yet to get chance in Conference League for Chelsea

Acheampong will likely be disappointed that he did not feature at all recently despite both first-team right-backs at the club being injured.

This is despite Enzo Maresca being a big fan of the player, with the Chelsea boss labelling Acheampong as ‘fantastic’ in pre-season.

A great opportunity for minutes this season would be in the Conference League, a competition the Blues are back in action in tomorrow.

However, he did not feature in their opening group game, with only Tyrique George given a brief cameo during the routine win against Gent.

George has been seen training with the Chelsea first team again ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Greece, although Acheampong will certainly not be involved.
