Enzo Maresca spent just one season at Leicester City before he got his first job in the Premier League as Chelsea manager.

The Blues are currently doing really well under the Italian, sitting third in the Premier League and with an attractive run of fixtures now awaiting them at the end of 2024.

The first of those is Leicester City, the side Maresca formally managed and a number of current players at Stamford Bridge previously featured for.

Leicester City angry at Enzo Maresca for joining Chelsea

It has been claimed that Maresca is unlikely to be booed by supporters upon his return to his former side. He helped steer them to promotion back to the Premier League in his only season in charge.

However, it is reportedly not all happy feelings at the Foxes when it comes to their former boss, who was in high demand for a number of top jobs over the summer.

According to The Telegraph, Leicester were angered that Maresca made the move to Chelsea, believing he took the first opportunity he saw to move to a perceived bigger side.

Despite all the backlash in the media in the last three years or so, there is certainly a project rearing its head at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian will be hoping the majority of his starting players have survived another international break and are ready to go by the time they make the trip to the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

The manager’s pre-match press conference saw confirmation of one injury to a player who didn’t even represent their country.

Reece James is set to miss this weekend’s game against Leicester, after picking up a hamstring issue while at Cobham.
