Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino would have been happy with Nicolas Jackson’s overall performance against Newcastle United.
It was Nicolas Jackson who opened the scoring last night with a clever little flick, registering his ninth Premier League goal of the season.
However, there was one moment during the game where the 22-year-old left Mauricio Pochettino absolutely fuming. According to football.london, the Argentine lost his temper and could be seen jumping up and down after his striker failed to guide a header into Mykhailo Mudryk’s path.
It was still a good night for Chelsea and Mudryk, though, with the winger also managing to get his name on the scoresheet.
They got the win in the end, which is the most important thing. Jackson has been the Blues’ first-choice No.9 this season, but Manchester United legend Paul Ince actually thinks he should be playing somewhere else.

Nicolas Jackson on track to reach double figures in the Premier League
A lot has been said about Jackson this season. The Senegal international has come in for criticism, with former Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew not impressed with his performance in the Carabao Cup final last month, for example.
However, after his latest goal against Newcastle, Jackson is on course to score 10 goals in the Premier League with 11 games left to play.
It is something the likes of Kai Havertz and Timo Werner failed to do when they were at Stamford Bridge.
It goes to show that Jackson has actually not been that bad this season, though it remains to be seen if he is good enough to take Chelsea back into the top four next term.
Whatever the case, for £32m, the Blues can be pleased with their acquisition of Jackson. Now he is familiar with the Premier League, hopefully the forward can go up another gear in the 2024/25 campaign and do the above.
