TalkSPORT’s Ally McCoist has claimed that Arsenal will go into the Sunday’s London derby with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as the favourites.

The Gunners will make the trip across London looking to remain at the top of the Premier League table, after their closest rivals Manchester City play the day before against Fulham.

It has been a near perfect season for Mikel Arteta’s men so far, with them only dropping points in two games so far.

This has been some caparison to what has happened in West London, with the Blues already on their second manager of the campaign.

While things didn’t work out for Thomas Tuchel, the Blues were enjoying a strong bounce back to form up until last weekend.

Arsenal favourites against Chelsea

In the manager’s first trip back to Brighton, Chelsea were humbled 4-1 for their first defeat in his tenure.

Meanwhile, Arsenal were soaring back to the top of the league with a 5-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.

McCoist has claimed the questions being asked about the Blues this season can only allow the Gunners to be favourites for the weekend’s game.

He said: “It’s not just a massive period for him, but it’s a massive period for Chelsea. They’ve had some really disappointing performances, in particular at the weekend. I’m looking at them in forward areas, he’s playing Sterling on the left-hand-side of a four.

“Kepa’s come in and done very well. But there’s far more unanswered questions about Chelsea. Big few games coming up for Mendy, but equally massive few games coming up for Chelsea.”

Last season, the Blues made a statement early in the campaign with a 2-0 win at the Emirates. However, Arsenal returned the favour with an emphatic 4-2 win at Stamford Bridge, although the game had little meaning on the Blues’ season overall.
