Chelsea defender Thiago Silva claims it is “impossible” to prepare to nullify Manchester United ace Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of their likely clash on Sunday.
If things go as expected, Silva will start in the middle of the back three for Chelsea and Ronaldo in the central forward role for the visitors.
The Blues should be confident going into this game considering they the best defensive record in the league so far.
However, Manchester United are still among the top five teams with the most league goals, with Ronaldo being one of their joint-top scorers.
As Mason Mount pointed out earlier, Manchester United have top-class players who can make the difference with their individual quality.
According to Silva, completely stopping Ronaldo is not exactly a feasible plan.

“When you look at the players of that level and talk about Ronaldo, [Lionel] Messi, Neymar, [Kevin] De Bruyne, then you can play against them 10 or 20 times, it doesn’t matter how many times, they are players who are so unpredictable,” the Brazil international told Chelsea’s official website.
“They always do something that means it’s impossible to prepare to stop them.
“So I just hope that for this game the team prepares well and comes together collectively to stop United’s best players and that’s not just Ronaldo, because Ronaldo doesn’t play on his own.

“He’s always well served by Bruno Fernandes and others on that team so if we prepare well and understand if we stop those players who are serving Ronaldo then we’ll be able to stop Ronaldo himself.
“That’s the best way to prepare for this game.”
