Chelsea club-record signing Enzo Fernandez has commented on his Premier League debut and thanked the Stamford Bridge crowd for their warm reception.

The 22-year-old only had a few days between his arrival in London and his debut, mostly due to Chelsea’s lack of midfield options amid an injury crisis.

However, as Graham Potter described it, it was a fantastic start to Fernandez’s Chelsea career.

It is unfortunate that the game ended in a 0-0 draw, but the former River Plate star was arguably among the best performers on the pitch, alongside Thiago Silva.

The midfielder has now had his say about his debut on social media.

“Very happy with the group’s effort,” the Argentina international wrote on Instagram.

“It is not the result we wanted, but let’s keep working for the good results to come.

“Thank you to the fans for the reception and support last night! I am very happy for the debut and to be a Blue!

“Thank You, God!”

Fernandez played the role of a holding midfielder brilliantly, making six tackles and winning nine duels throughout the 90 minutes.

Impressively, he did all those without conceding any foul.

It will be interesting to see what he can do in a free role when playing alongside another defensive midfielder.

Aside from being an exceptional ball-winning midfielder, Fernandez is also a good playmaker and had five assists for Benfica this season.
