Rafael Leao has taken to Instagram to praise international teammate Joao Felix after Portugal’s World Cup win last night.

The 2016 European Championship winners put on easily their best display of the tournament, as well as one of the most dominant the competition has seen yet.

A 6-1 win over Switzerland has repaid the manager’s call to drop free agent Cristiano Ronaldo to the bench, in favour of Goncalo Ramos.

The 21-year-old’s first start saw him score the tournament’s first hat-trick, whilst also assisting another.

The entire attack looked a lot more fluid without the veteran striker, and Atletico Madrid’s Felix was one of those who benefitted the most from the new team selection.

His sensational performance was noticed by his teammates, with Leao describing him as ‘golden boy’ in the comments of the AC Milan man’s Instagram post.

Leao praises Felix

Leao certainly made his own impact yesterday too. He struck his second of the competition as rumours about a potential future at Stamford Bridge continue to run wild.

Meanwhile, reports have claimed recently that the Blues are also interested in a deal to sign Felix, whose career has perhaps not hit the heights yet that it threatened to do so.

Rumours suggest that he is willing to leave Atletico, and Chelsea are one of the sides who are interested in a deal to bring him to the Premeir League.

With the attacker being still only 23, there is plenty of time for him to prove he can be the player his time at Benfica promised he would become.

With Graham Potter looking to build a fluid attack that very may well contain Christopher Nkunku from next season, the addition of Felix could see them create a dynamic frontline that could really challenge the top teams in world football.
