Joao Felix has admitted he’s been surprised by just how good Chelsea’s Thiago Silva actually is.
Joao Felix, 23, walked into a Chelsea dressing room filled with big names when he joined on loan from Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window.
Unfortunately, most of those Blues stars have underperformed and left the club in a sorry position this season.
It’s interesting to hear the on-loan Chelsea attacker pick out Thiago Silva as someone to really impress him, though.

Felix has explained on Chelsea’s official YouTube channel that Silva’s quality has actually shocked him. In fact, the 38-year-old veteran centre-back is way better than he originally thought.
When asked what it’s been like playing with Silva, Felix said: “Very good. I was surprised when I came here. I already knew he was a top player but training with him every day I saw something different. I was really surprised the way he plays. He’s calm on the field.”

We only ever hear good things about Silva from inside the Chelsea camp, which is no surprise when you consider he’s one of the few individuals that can hold his head up high this season for his displays.
The Brazilian defender continues to defy the odds by performing at such a high level at his age. He’s doing this while others around him are really struggling this season, too.
Blues defender Kalidou Koulibaly recently said he feels “lucky” to play alongside Silva. Meanwhile, Reece James said earlier this year that Silva is one of the best players he’s ever played with.
It’s obvious the South American star plays an important role in this squad, so we’re delighted he’s got another year on his contract.
