Reece James posted a heartfelt message after Charly Musonda confirmed he’s leaving Chelsea this summer.

Musonda, who’s been on Chelsea’s books for a decade, is finally departing when his contract expires this summer.

The 25-year-old attacker made just seven first-team appearances for the Blues across the 10 years, spending a lot of his time out on loan after coming through the academy.

His injury-hit career has always held him back from reaching his potential, but let’s hope he can find success elsewhere moving forward.

Charly Musonda leaving

Musonda announced on his Instagram that he will now be leaving west London.

The Belgian winger has received an eye-catching response from Chelsea and England star James, who reveals how much he helped him when he was making a breakthrough at Stamford Bridge.

“Good luck brother. You took me under your wing when I was in the academy and showed me the way. Memories for a lifetime. Thank you always,” James said on his Instagram story.

There’s lots of players who don’t quite manage to carve out a successful career for themselves at Chelsea, but Musonda’s left a small mark at least.

James, 22, has grown into one of the outstanding players in Thomas Tuchel’s current Blues squad.

It’s a great place to be right now in the club’s academy seeing a path to the first team, especially as you can lean on individuals that have gone from the youth team to the senior group.

Chelsea boss Tuchel claims wing-back James has “everything” to his game and can be one of the very best around.
