'Very special': 23-year-old Chelsea player hails Elland Road atmosphere, says he's going to warn his teammates about it

Mason Mount thinks Elland Road is very special ahead of tonight’s Premier League match between Leeds United and Chelsea.

Chelsea’s attacking midfielder Mount, along with the Blues squad, travel to Yorkshire to face Leeds in a huge showdown.

First of all, Leeds sit in the relegation zone in desperate need of points. There’s no doubt the Whites supporters will try create an intimidating atmosphere inside their ground Elland Road to lift their players.

Meanwhile, third-placed Chelsea need results still to guarantee a top-four finish this season.

Mason Mount thinks Elland Road is very special

Mount, who’s played at the Leeds ground on more than one occasion, has referenced his trip to Elland Road back in the 2018/19 season during his loan at Derby County.

The 23-year-old’s admitted he will be warning his Chelsea teammates about what awaits them on Wednesday night:

“I remember playing away at Leeds in a Derby shirt and that was a very special atmosphere, one that sticks in my head. So I know the atmosphere, a few of the boys probably don’t know what’s coming as they haven’t played there before, so I’ll try to warn them about it,” Mount said.

Intimidation at Elland Road

There’s no doubt Leeds will be hoping their fanbase can create a cauldron of noise in this evening’s vital game.

They are historically loud and energetic supporters, but don’t forget the great away support the Blues always take on the road.

Chelsea have the individual quality to take the sting out of the game against Leeds, especially if midfield duo Jorginho and N’Golo Kante pass late fitness checks.

Blues manager Thomas Tuchel has suggested Romelu Lukaku may be in line for another start, which could make life very difficult for the Leeds backline.
