Young Chelsea winger Omari Hutchinson was full of praise for Blues teammate Mateo Kovacic and his ability to stay calm on the ball.

The 19-year-old is one of the young talents that Chelsea brought in last summer.

He has only made one appearance in Chelsea colours, which is a surprise, given he caught a lot of attention with his lively performance in the club’s warm-weather training camp in Abu Dhabi last December.

Graham Potter even described the winger as a “dangerous” talent at the time.

For now, Hutchinson, who trains with the first team quite regularly, will have to wait for more first-team chances at Chelsea.

He recently answered several questions in an interview session with Chelsea.

One of the interesting questions is when he was asked to pick one part of a Chelsea teammate’s game and add it to his.

He picked two, including Kovacic’s.

“Well he’s away from the club on loan at the moment, but Cesare Casadei’s physicality is top,” Hutchinson told Chelsea’s 5th stand app.

“In terms of the first team, it would have to be Kovacic’s calmness on the ball… wow, what a player!”

Kovacic is arguably one of the best players at Chelsea in terms of abilities on the ball. He simply glides past players as if they are not there.

Many wingers, including Hutchinson, would love to be able to be aware of their surroundings to make quick decisions the way Kovacic does.
