‘Delighted’: Jason Cundy reacts to what he’s hearing about Chelsea last night

Jason Cundy has reacted very positively to last night’s rumours that Mauricio Pochettino will definitely become the next Chelsea manager.

There’s been plenty of speculation in recent weeks about Mauricio Pochettino, 51, taking charge in the manager’s dugout at Stamford Bridge.

Now, various publications claimed on Saturday night that the Argentine coach is going to West London.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed on Twitter last night that Pochettino will sign a contract to become Chelsea’s head coach for the start of June. It means caretaker boss Frank Lampard will continue in his role for the final three games of this season.

Elsewhere, The Guardian reported on Saturday evening that Pochettino has agreed terms with the Blues after extensive talks.

Cundy responded to the Pochettino update last night with real positivity.

“My reaction is about time. This has been in the pipeline for some time. In the last three weeks, I’ve heard the deal has been done. They’ve obviously been going through all the little bits and pieces that these contracts take. Delighted with the news,” Cundy told Sky Sports.

While Chelsea fans patiently wait for an official announcement from the club, Pochettino will surely be getting to work with his plans for next season.

GiveMeSport recently claimed that Pochettino is planning to use a back four system at Stamford Bridge. It’s no real surprise when you consider he’s favoured a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 during his managerial career.

Many have argued Chelsea’s players are playing for very little in the final games of the season as they slump towards a very disappointing mid-table finish in the Premier League. However, announcing Pochettino could be perfect motivation for all the stars in the group.
