Owen Hargreaves was full of praise for Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling after his standout performance on Friday night against Luton Town.

Raheem Sterling, 28, is the talk of the Chelsea fanbase right now after a man of the match display yesterday evening in west London.

The Blues attacker scored twice and assisted another in a comfortable 3-0 home win against Luton in the Premier League.

Finally, Mauricio Pochettino’s side chalked up their first victory of the season in their third game.

Hargreaves singled out Chelsea forward Sterling for immense praise after watching his contribution against Luton.

The £50million (Daily Mail) England international tormented the Luton players at Stamford Bridge with his direct dribbling at high speed. He showed two genuine moments of class in the box to get his first two goals of the season, too.

Hargreaves told the Premier League’s official website: “I didn’t see Raheem last season that sharp. He looks so sharp. When someone’s sharp we mean quick and dynamic. He looks explosive and that’s hard to play against.”

Let’s hope Sterling can continue to build on this early-season momentum at Chelsea.

Mauricio Pochettino’s arrival as head coach this summer has been fantastic for Sterling, who’s got the opportunity to grow into a real senior figure in the young group.

Gary Lineker applauded the Chelsea winger after his masterclass against Luton, as quoted by X.

There’s now home games against AFC Wimbledon (Carabao Cup) and Nottingham Forest (Premier League) to enjoy before the first international break of the season.
