Gabby Agbonlahor thinks Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong would prefer to join Chelsea over Manchester United this summer.
TalkSPORT pundit Agbonlahor has been discussing the state of the current Chelsea squad, suggesting they may still need to sign another midfielder in this transfer window.
The Blues have already strengthened in attack this summer by signing Raheem Sterling from Manchester City. They’ve reinforced the defence by adding centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, too.

TalkSPORT’s Agbonlahor has mentioned Barcelona’s 25-year-old star De Jong, who’s been linked as a transfer target for both Chelsea and Manchester United.
He’s convinced the Dutch central midfielder would pick Thomas Tuchel’s Blues over a move to Old Trafford.
“I feel like they (Chelsea) still maybe need a midfielder. There’s talk of maybe De Jong, maybe hijacking that move from Manchester United. And I think he’d choose Chelsea over Manchester United if he had the choice,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.

Frenkie de Jong rumours
A report today suggests Agbonlahor’s comments on the Barcelona man are bang on the money.
It’s been claimed De Jong doesn’t like the idea of a transfer to Man United this summer. However, he would be more open of ending up at Chelsea if his future does lie away from Spain. Ideally, he would prefer to stay put at the Camp Nou.
If Jorginho can continue to perform to a high standard in the Blues line-up, splashing the cash on a player like De Jong doesn’t sound too appealing. For certain, he would be a risk given the mixed reviews he’s had in Barcelona during recent years.
It’s worth pointing out that Chelsea should have an edge over a team like Man United right now given the leverage of offering Champions League football in the upcoming season.
