Ian Wright admits he’s starting to feel sorry for Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk because of his price tag.

Mudryk, who joined the Blues in the January transfer window, could end up costing as much as £89million with bonuses.

The 22-year-old is a very exciting attacker with ‘breathtaking’ speed, but it’s worth pointing out he made just 44 Shakhtar Donetsk appearances before his move to Stamford Bridge.

He’s been trying to get to grips with the Premier League during his first two months. He did impress during his start in the weekend’s victory away to Leicester City.

Pundit Ian Wright has branded the pressure that Mudryk’s transfer fee has brought him as “unfair.”

He suggests Leandro Trossard has been a much better January recruit for Arsenal, too.

“They (Arsenal) didn’t get Mudryk and that might be the best thing that happened to them,” Wright’s said on Wrighty’s House Podcast.

“I don’t care what anyone says, Mudryk, and we’ve seen up to this point, he wouldn’t have done what Trossard has done what Trossard has been doing up to this point.

“Mudryk, for his own sake, I do feel sorry for him because I don’t know if there’s anyone in the history of football whose had to have a transfer of that amount of money with so much politicalness around him. It’s almost unfair.”

Mudryk, who’s still young and inexperienced, has plenty of time to silence his doubters.

His express pace will continue to frighten opposition teams, especially if they want to defend with a high line.

He’s finding his role within Graham Potter’s system, popping up in both central and wide offensive position at Leicester on Saturday.

We think the Ukraine international should just try blank out the outside noise and focus on himself. There is definitely a top player in there waiting to shine.
