Ian Wright suggests Enzo Fernandez will be much better for Chelsea if he’s got Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the same starting line-up.

Fernandez, who’s got huge expectation on his shoulders following his £106.8million arrival from Benfica in January, has played every minute since joining Chelsea.

Unfortunately, the 22-year-old midfielder is playing for a Blues side that is completely out of form.

As for Aubameyang, the £10million man been frozen out by Graham Potter in recent weeks.

The 33-year-old striker did come off the bench inside the final 10 minutes of the weekend defeat to Tottenham, but that is the only time he’s been on the pitch at the same time as Fernandez.

Wright has explained why he believes Potter must bring Aubameyang back into the starting XI.

In particular, he thinks Fernandez would be able to feed forward passes to a genuine centre-forward.

“They have a lot creativity Chelsea in what they do. I think Enzo is going to be a really good signing for them but then what would be the point of having those two guys who do attack [the full backs], to put the ball in to who?” Wright told The Kelly & Wrighty Show.

“Now whatever you’re saying about Aubameyang and whatever you think about Aubameyang he is a goalscorer. If you’re going to get those two back fit now [Ben Chilwell and Reece James], you get him up there and all of a sudden James has someone to whip it into, Chilwell has someone to whip it into.

“You have Fernandez who can find him over the top, there’s so many things I was thinking about watching that game thinking about how this could go right with them.

“So whatever the problem is with Aubameyang – I don’t know what’s gone on, but you’re looking at Chelsea who need a striker, they have got one and he’s not playing.”

Fernandez has already produced a Cesc Fabregas-esque assist in Chelsea colours, which shows he’s an all-action midfielder that can contribute going forward.

However, it must be hard for Blues players in possession when there’s not a central figure making movements in behind. Incidentally, Darren Bent has recently explained that Kai Havertz is playing in the wrong position as the striker.
