'Lovely technique': Roy Keane really impressed by £105m player Chelsea reportedly want to sign

Roy Keane was left really impressed by the technique of Portugal star Rafael Leao yesterday at the World Cup, who’s reportedly a player that Chelsea want to sign.

AC Milan winger Leao, 23, came off the bench to help Portugal beat Ghana 3-2 in a World Cup thriller.

The Portuguese attacker scored what turned out to be the winning goal, calmly slotting in a side-footed finish from inside the box. He opened up his body and dispatched the finish on his stronger right foot.

Leao has been in sensational form for Milan this season, scoring seven goals and making nine assists in 20 games across all competitions.

It did come as a surprise that he didn’t start on Thursday against Ghana, but he showed his class on the World Cup stage when introduced to the pitch during the second-half.

Rafael Leao technique

ITV pundit Roy Keane was full of praise for Leao’s 80th minute winning goal.

In addition, former Joe Cole weighed in with a comment about the reported Chelsea target.

“Lovely finish. Lovely technique. Beautiful goal,” Roy Keane told ITV1 (6:10pm, 24 November).

Joe Cole added: “We were calling for him at half-time, that’s exactly what they needed. They need penetration.”

Chelsea links

Leao looks such a dangerous player for both club and country, so speculation linking Chelsea to him should excite Blues supporters.

TMW claimed earlier this month that Chelsea are ready to match Milan’s €120million (£105million) price tag and have spoken with the player directly. Also, the report does mention the Blues may try include either Armando Broja, Hakim Ziyech or Christian Pulisic as part of any deal to drive the transfer fee down.

It’s going to be interesting to see how the blistering winger gets on during the rest of the tournament because he’s got so much quality.

For certain, there’s not a full-back at the World Cup that will enjoying defending against Leao one-on-one.
