Report: Chelsea could look to swap Broja and Pulisic for £105m attacker who Graham Potter really likes
Chelsea are reportedly expected to make a move for AC Milan’s Rafael Leao in the January transfer window.
Leao, 23, is a highly-rated attacker that’s a star player at the San Siro.
The left-winger has been in excellent form so far this season, scoring six goals and making nine assists in 17 games across all competitions.
His eye-catching form has now led to transfer rumours linking him to England.
Chelsea move for Rafeal Leao
According to TMW, Chelsea and Manchester City are thinking of moves to sign Milan’s talisman at the start of the New Year.
It is understood that the Blues hierarchy has already spoken directly with Leao and is ready to match Milan’s €120million (£105million) valuation for the player.
The report says Chelsea’s package could include potential swap deals to reach the actual transfer cost.
TMW claim Graham Potter’s side could look to include their young striker Armando Broja, who’s valued at €30million (£26million), as part of a player-plus-cash deal. Also, Blues wingers Christian Pulisic or Hakim Ziyech may be suggested as names to be involved in a swap.
It’s worth noting Chelsea boss Potter is a big admirer of Leao, describing him as a “top player” earlier this year.
Leao is an explosive wide player with fantastic speed, trickery and quality around the box. Therefore, it makes sense Potter’s side are lining up a move to get him.
However, the Blues should be careful about which players they offer up in any kind of swap deal.
For starters, Chelsea striker Broja should be off limits. Described as “brilliant” by Jason Cundy, the 21-year-old has so much to give moving forward at Stamford Bridge.
As for Pulisic and Ziyech, there should be more of a conversation around the duo when it comes to their futures.
Pulisic, who’s in and out of the Chelsea XI, is a talented American attacker that must be desperate to start move.
Meanwhile, Ziyech is completely out of favour and in our view would be a decent option to offer to Milan.
