Pat Nevin believes Chelsea star Reece James will soon be back to the “unstoppable” form he showed before his injury.

It’s no secret now that Reece James is one of the key individuals at Stamford Bridge, someone who offers so much to the Blues both offensively and defensively.

The 23-year-old right wing-back has had to overcome numerous injury problems in the last year, including a couple of knee issues this season.

However, the England defender is back playing games and is with Gareth Southgate’s squad during the current international break.

Pat Nevin suggested James looked back to his best in Chelsea’s 2-2 Premier League draw against Everton last weekend.

“Other positives were Kai [Havertz] scoring yet again and Reece James showing glimpses of the unstoppable player he was before his injuries, especially in the second half. Winning the penalty that Kai converted was an example of exactly what we have missed down that right-hand side… Reece James will almost certainly be his fully fit self again [after the international break],” Nevin told the club’s official website.

Marc Cucurella claims James has “incredible” shooting, which is something Chelsea fans want to see more of.

The Blues wing-back proved in the past he can be his side’s chief attacking threat from wide areas, but we agree he’s still trying to find his peak form again.

Graham Potter’s decision to move to a back three really benefits certain players in the squad, with the wing-back area so vital.

Darren Bent says Chelsea are a different team when James and Ben Chilwell start together. It will be interesting to see if the full-back pairing both start in England’s games against Italy and Ukraine during the next week.
